A Colorado Springs woman was killed in a car accident in Texas Monday.

The victim, 34-year-old Aleksandra Lancaster, of Colorado Springs, was a passenger in a 2006 Mazda that her husband, John Tracy Lancaster, 48, was driving north on 183 near Lometa, Texas just before 1 a.m.

The Mazda swerved, and spun into the southbound lane where it was hit by a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. The Pathfinder was driven by 41-year-old Richard Barto. Jennifer Barton, 42 and two children (ages 5 and 7) were also in the car.

My son, Sutton, was in Micheal's Kindergarten class last year. After spending the school year together, you come to share a special bond with the families that have kids the same age as your own. I feel overwhelmed with emotion over Micheal losing his mother, especially now, when he is hurt also. It brings out my motherly instinct and want so badly to embrace and comfort him. Please know we are thinking about their family and willing to help out in any way possible.

Poor, dear, sweet Sasha, hardworking and caring, rest in peace. We are absolutely devastated and we will miss you so much. Maria and family
