Colorado State Patrol says Highway 24 is now open in both directions from Limon to Colorado Springs.

The closure was due to poor visibility, blowing snow and icy roads.

Blowing snow is still a problem in other areas along Highway 24. There are also some slick spots on the road to watch out for.

If you must travel out that way, allow yourself a lot of extra time, and drive slow.

Very good call on behalf of the State Patrol. I have driven this stretch in the winter and it can get very bad. Better to be safe than sorry. It does however stink for those that live past Calhan, especially if they need to get into the Springs. Keep warm and stay safe.
