Officer Involved Shooting Justifiable

The Colorado Springs District Attorney's office rules a shooting involving a Springs police officer was justified.

Colorado Springs police responded to a call of a domestic dispute in the seventeen thousand block of Park Trail Drive, during the early morning hours of March 14th.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found 36 year old William Howell holding a gun and refusing to drop it.

Howell then shot himself in the head and the officer responded with gunfire, saying he was unsure if he was being fired upon.

The officer hit Howell in the arm. The El Paso County coroner's office ruled the death a suicide.
