Overnight a disturbance passes through parts of S Colorado... this will bring a push of moisture falling as rain in the Plains with a few late night/early morning showers possible in Pueblo. For the Palmer Divide, N & W El Paso Co. and Teller Co. it will fall as snow... bringing a few additional inches of accumulation in mainly between 1am and 6am, lingering into the mid morning. Winds also pick up overnight with gusts into the 40s, the winds look to continue across much of S Colo. through the day Sunday.... head over to the "Weather" tab for more information.
Higher humidities were helping firefighters keep the fire from
spreading. It is now 25 percent contained.
Residents of the Little Valley Subdivision are being allowed to
return home this morning while those living in the Big Elk Meadows
subdivision will probably be allowed to return home later today.
Electricity in the area is out and Xcel could not guarantee it
would be back by the evening.
The fire is burning in mostly steep, inaccessible terrain --
making it too dangerous to put ground crews in most areas. Fire
commanders are relying on water and retardant drops from two air
tankers and seven helicopters.
