The winner of this year's state spelling bee had a good role model -- his brother.
Colorado Springs 8th grader Akshay Buddiga won the 64th annual bee Saturday by correctly spelling "paronomasia" -- which means word play or pun.
Akshay's brother Pratyush was the state co-champion two years ago and went on to win the national competition. Head judge Ed Low says the Buddigas are the first brothers ever to win titles in Colorado.
Akshay's victory earns him the right to compete May 30th through June 4th at the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee in Washington.
