Heavy snow at times Sunday had soaked most of the roads around good portions of Southern Colorado. As the night rolled on, and the snow came down, we began to see some slick roads and that continues Monday morning.

By 10 p.m. Sunday, roads in Colorado Springs were mostly wet and slushy in spots. Interstate 25 north at North Academy was seeing some slush accumulation. By that time it was not yet slick, but hazardous conditions certainly seemed possible.

11 News checked with the Colorado Department of Transportation. A C-DOT spokesperson says trucks are already out on I-25 in the Monument area, putting down de-icer. The goal, according to CDOT, is to try to get ahead of this one.

11 News Chief Meteorologist Brian Bledsoe agrees that the morning commute could bring some problems, especially to the North. He adds that the main areas of Colorado Springs and Pueblo probably won't be too bad. He also says the snow should wrap up for large portions of Colorado Springs and in the Pueblo area by late tonight. In the more northern portions of the 11 News viewing area, it should end after midnight.

11 News viewers have reported conditions in their neighborhoods on our Facebook page. Most report wet roads and no traffic problems at about 8:40 Sunday night. Again, that is expected to change in some areas.
