Fort Carson officials say First Lieutenant Michael R. Adams was killed
while traveling in a convoy headed to Kuwait to prepare for redeployment.
Adams was a 24-year-old commissioned officer from Seattle.
Fort Carson officials say a passing vehicle struck his tank, causing a mounted weapon to strike him from behind.
Adams was pronounced dead on arrival at a combat support hospital
The accident is still under investigation.
He was the 44th Fort Carson soldier killedin Iraq since the war began.
