A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Several inches of accumulation will be possible in areas where these bands develop. For more information click the ‘Weather’ tab...
One of the American missionaries killed in Iraq was a former resident of Lamar, and was born in Colorado Springs.
Officials say 28-year-old David E. McDonnall had most recently been living in Rowlett, Texas.
He was one of four missionaries killed in a drive-by shooting in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.
Officials say McDonnall died as he was being flown to a military hospital in Baghdad.
His wife -- 26-year-old Carrie Taylor McDonnall -- was injured and was reported in critical condition.
David McDonnall was a graduate of Lamar High School and C-S-U extension agents say he was very involved in the Four-H program.
He and the other Southern Baptist missionaries were working on a
water project at the time.
