Wildfires

Wind-driven wildfires in several Colorado counties today forced the evacuation of more than 80 families, blackened hundreds of acres and destroyed 11-thousand bales of hay..

A 700-acre fire was reported in Lincoln County and officials say two prescribed burns in Boulder County got out of hand -- destroying a haystock worth an estimated 13-thousand dollars.

Two subdivisions in the Coal Creek Canyon area northwest of Golden were evacuated because of a fire fanned by 29-mile per hour gusts.

About 81 families were affected before the fire was contained.

Authorities say it apparently started when a 13-year-old boy crashed on a small motor bike. He was hospitalized for burns.
