A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Two subdivisions in the Coal Creek Canyon area northwest of Golden were evacuated because of a fire fanned by 29-mile per hour gusts.
About 81 families were affected before the fire was contained.
Authorities say it apparently started when a 13-year-old boy crashed on a small motor bike. He was hospitalized for burns.
