A portion of the ammonium nitrate stolen last summer from a local construction company has been located.
ATF officials say about 50 pounds of the chemical were found over the weekend. In all, thieves stole about 450 pounds of ammonium nitrate from Castle Construction last July. But so far, no arrests in the case.
ATF Agent-in-Charge Rich Marianos says he believes the ammonium nitrate that was recovered, may have been dumped shortly after the theft.
Ammonium nitrate is a key ingredient in some homemade bombs. Several tons of the chemical were used in the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.
