Colorado Springs leaders are working out a plan to salvage as many fish as possible, before Prospect Lake is empty.
Prospect Lake was built on sand and now cracks in the bottom are causing it to leak. Already, it's lost about 55% of it's water. Complicating the plight of the fish further, the lake must be completely emptied in order to be repaired.
The fish must be moved before the water level gets too low. City leaders hope to have a definite plan in the works by next week. The good news, they say, is once the lake is fixed, it should be full for another 100 years.
