A Southern Colorado woman is recovering Tuesday night after she was mauled by a deer.

The Division of Wildlife spokesman, Michael Seraphin, says 63-year-old Joan Nutt was near an open field in Florissant, just outside of Divide, when she tried to pet the young buck. Apparently, he lowered his head and charged at her. A driver on County Road 31 stopped by to help the woman. Nutt had minor injuries with some cuts and bruises to her arm and leg.

“It is our belief that this deer was hand-fed by someone. Whether or not it was that house or someone else nearby, the buck was not acting like a normal deer," says Seraphin.

The buck was euthanized because it kept returning to the area, close to Nutt and the Good Samaritan. The DOW says it's mating season for deer.

First off I just want to say that Bambi was a boy,so i think it is safe to say it wasn't his boyfriend, and killing the deer cause the woman doesn't have common sense to not pet the deer is ridiculous.

DOW SUCKS. Kill the deer because he was defending himself. Shoot the lady for trying to pet it. DOW is trigger happy. I hope they burn when they die for killing all those animals. How do they sleep at night.

By all means, kill the deer. That lady was in the wrong trying to pet a wild animal. I hope that the the meat was at least used.
