Road Conditions Vastly Improved Around S. Colorado Monday

Most of the major roads around Southern Colorado are now clear and dry. After nearly two days of dangerous icy conditions, temperatures warmed up Sunday afternoon and things finally started to thaw.

There is still the possibility of slick spots and patches of black ice anywhere that a wet road has now frozen again Monday morning. Authorities still urge caution.

The City of Colorado Springs remains under accident alert. That means, if you're in an accident and no alcohol/drugs are suspected, and there are no injuries, simply exchange information with the other driver and report the crash to police within 24 hours.

There is the potential for icy areas on I-25 between Monument and Colorado Springs. And there is a possibility of still more freezing drizzle after midnight. If that happens, roads could be hazardous again for the Monday morning commute.

C-DOT says to use caution when driving and give yourself plenty of time.
