A major drug ring in Colorado Springs has been taken down. The bust was part of a seven-month undercover sting operation. Fifteen people are now behind bars.

The investigation was coined, "Operation Jeez Luis." It included twelve search warrants in Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Denver. Investigators say they busted an operation that dotted the entire front range and they were able to do it through undercover informants and phone taps.

The fifteen people who were arrested are accused of being apart of the huge drug ring in the Pikes Peak Region. "To me this is a big deal," said El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa.

Authorities say they got who they wanted. 24-Year-old Luis Angel Vega, AKA, "Tricky" was someone who authorities believed was the ring leader. Later they learned it was really Jorge Perez. "Perez was later determined to be the head of the entire organization and leader of La Familia-Sorenos street gang in Colorado Springs," said Commander Rick Millwright with the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Drugs, weapons and cash were all seized from a group of people who law enforcement describe as violent and dangerous. "One thing that will never be measured is the potential violence that may have come along with those weapons and we all know in law enforcement, you can't measure what doesn't happen," said Maketa.

Detectives seized:
· 815 grams (1.79 pounds) Of methamphetamine ice (valued at $326,000.00)
· 16.2 grams of cocaine (valued at $1620)
· 974 grams (2.14 pounds) Of marijuana (valued at $3896)
· 56.6 grams of mushrooms (valued at $283)
· 5 firearms
· $8,475.00 us currency

The goal was never to catch just one suspect. "We were about the business of targeting and dismantling an entire violent criminal street enterprise," said Colorado Springs Police Chief Richard Myers.

That is what has happened, police said, and has included and improvement to public safety and quality of life. "I've got a number of murder cases right now that are gang involved," said 4TH Judicial District Attorney Dan May.

Authorities continue to look for two more suspects.

They also say the bust would not have been possible if not for all the local, county, state and federal agencies who worked so hard together.

As for the meth recovered, investigators do not think it was manufactured in Colorado, believing instead it came from Mexico.

OK Cap, if you take a look at the great work of the CSPD, they only do "big" busts on mexicans. You don't hear of white people getting busted. Yea great they got these people off the streets...BUT CSPD constantly does racial profiling...they have nothing else better to do...SO LETS GIVE A ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO CSPD FOR ALL THEIR GREAT WORK...But they put a poor little old lady in the hospital who had nothing to do with this, so let's give them a raise for that.

'If the sombrero fits' - that was pretty funny. To your point though, every action/crime committed by any racial classification has the potential to kill people, kids included. A person gets drunk, lets say a District Attorney, that drives recklessly down I-25. Every single person this drunk driver passes is in jeopardy. No one goes after the liquor store or blames Budwiser. Ethnicity should not be at focus here. Sombrero jokes are always funny though.
