Authorities say a Pueblo man who may have planted a makeshift bomb outside a Pueblo Police Officer's house, is under arrest. They believe 47-year-old Robert Howard Bruce may have tried to kill Officer Nathan Pruce and his family.

The Pueblo Police Department and the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office were looking for Bruce for much of the afternoon and evening on Tuesday. Authorities say he was arrested in Pueblo around 6:00 pm without incident.

Apparently, Officer Pruce was supposed to testify against Bruce in court on Tuesday morning. Bruce was arrested in July of 2007 on peeping tom charges. The two were set to appear in court on Tuesday and when Bruce didn't show up, a warrant for his arrest was issued.

The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office says a propane tank with a hose leading into the officer's garage was found outside his home on the 1300 block of Los Charros in Pueblo West.

Investigators say high levels of an explosive gas were detected inside the home. His wife and kids were home at the time he discovered the tank.

My husband puts his life on the line everyday to protect and serve. Yes he takes the added steps to ensure his safety but when POS crosses the line and tries to inflict harm on the families it has gone to far! We deal with them arresting someone and the POS having a survey to decide if the cops were to mean to them- Criminals have and will always have more rights then the Police Officer- but now the DA needs to take into account that he attempted to harm the family not just the Police Officer and hope he doesn't get a plea!!!

To "Got it": You moved out of Pueblo because of all the crime? Have you read your local paper? "Police say an autopsy completed Monday confirmed a gunshot wound was the cause of death. Police say this is the 17th homicide in Colorado Springs so far this year. At this time last year there had been 20 homicides." Every city has negative elements including Pueblo & Colorado Springs. You missed the point here. Someone tried to harm not only a police officer who puts his life on the line every day but his family too. Like the Sheriff said, "cowardice". Thank God they found him and he can now be tried for this crime and all the others.
