Light to moderate snow showers continue this Wednesday morning with cold temperatures to start the day. Roads are *very* icy and snow packed throughout southeast Colorado... so please allow extra time for the morning drive. Throughout the midday and afternoon, we'll keep the chance of some light, fine snow showers, but expecting minor accumulations through the day. Snow looks to finally push out this evening/overnight and our warm up begins. Head over to the "Weather' tab for a full look at the forecast.
(Colorado Springs-AP) -- Olympic gold-medal swimmer Donna de Varona has withdrawn from the race for president of the U.S. Olympic
The 55-year-old de Varona, who became a television and radio journalist, says demands on her time and resources prompted her to withdraw six days after declaring her candidacy.
Her decision came as the USOC's Ethics Oversight Committee was reviewing candidates' paperwork, which includes a section on potential conflicts of interest.
De Varona won two gold medals in the 1964 Olympics. She works as a commentator for Sporting News Radio and has an age discrimination lawsuit pending against the ABC television network.
She says the Ethics Oversight Committee did not ask her to drop out of the race, and says her lawsuit didn't play a role in her choice to withdraw. She says she might consider a run for a full president's term in 2004.
Her withdrawal leaves three candidates for the USOC special election to fill the unexpired term of Sandy Baldwin, who resigned in May after admitting to inaccuracies in her educational background on her resume.
Remaining candidates are Colorado Springs Realtor Marty Mankamyer, Boston attorney Paul George and Virginia executive Larry Hough.
