Roads are icy in spots that saw accumulating snow yesterday. Allow yourself plenty of extra time this morning and dress warmly, as wind chills are in the single digits and teens for many. A second disturbance will bring another round of snow showers to the Front Range this afternoon and early evening. While not as heavy as yesterday, some additional light accumulations over the higher terrain will be possible, including Teller and Northern El Paso Counties. Highs in the 30s and 40s will feel colder when factoring a blustery northwest wind. Click on the 'Weather' tab for more...
Many Fort Carson soldiers are now home and making up for lost time with their loved ones. Nearly 200 troops arrived Friday night after spending as long as 10 months in Iraq.
The troops, who are members of the 3rd ACR, flew into Peterson Air Force Base about 7:30 in th evening. They were transported to Fort Carson about 2 hours later where they turned in their weapons and equipment and met with their families and friends in tearful reunions.
Most troopers will not return to Iraq any time soon although a return is always possible. They are just the beginning of the largest re-deployment to Fort Carson since World War 2. Ten thousand more soldiers are expected to come home to the mountain post by May.
