A special triathlon is being held at the Air Force Academy this Saturday. For the second year, cadets are holding a race for a fallen cadet.

"It's really our way to show our love of the sport and give back to the community and the other cadets," said Cadet Race Director Daniel Parker.

The Lindsay Brown Memorial Triathlon is being held in honor of their fallen teammate and friend. Lindsay was killed in a car crash in December 2007 while home on break. As a member of the Air Force swim team Lindsay spent most of her time in the pool, but she had hoped to someday become a triathlete and had joined the team just before she died.

"She was really excited to get involved with the triathlon team and it's a way to honor her, in memory of her, to always keep her in our thoughts and prayers," said Major Scott Poteet, this year’s Race Director.

Last year hundreds turned out to race and they are hoping for an even bigger turnout this year.

"We hope it’s a landmark for the Air Force Academy and the community as a race they can expect every year," Parker said.

A race that will always be for Lindsay and will carry on what she left behind.

All of the money raised from the triathlon will be given to the Rando Fund. The fund helps cadets pay for airfare home in the wake of family tragedies.
