Beef Exports

The Colorado Cattlemen's Association says the government's negotiations with U.S. beef importing countries, such as Mexico, Japan, and Canada, are critical for business.

The three were among several countries that banned American beef after a case of mad cow disease was found in Washington last December.

Domestic demand for beef took a nose-dive after the discovery but quickly bolstered afterward.

Exports account for about 9 percent of the industry's business.
