A new report says a University of Colorado student was raped by an acquaintance in her dorm room just hours after the 2001 football recruiting party.
That incident is said to have kicked off investigations into the current sex scandal. The alleged rapist was not a member of the football team.
Experts say the case shows sex assaults can involve more than just athletes but they admit athletes get more attention.
Boulder police say they handled a 10-year high of 52 rape reports in 2003. That figure is up 8 percent since the year before and 73 percent since 2 years before. On-campus police say there were 5 forcible rapes last year.
