Colorado judges could be subject to the same kind of term limits faced by legislators under a plan being drafted in the state Legislature.
Colorado Springs Republican Representative Lynn Hefley says she plans to introduce a constitutional amendment that would extend term limits for state senators, representatives and the governor from eight to 12 years.
But Hefley says she may also include judges because of the recent uproar over what some conservatives see as too much social activism from the bench.
Colorado judges are appointed, but voters must later decide whether to retain them.
Hefley says that part of the ballot is often left blank because voters are not familiar with the judges.
