A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. An Air Force Academy cadet involved in a vehicle accident near Larkspur in mid-June died Sunday morning.
Cadet 3rd Class (sophomore) Steven Olegario was the driver in a single vehicle roll over accident at mile marker 176 on I-25, just north of Larkspur June 18, according to the Colorado State Patrol. There were no passengers.
Olegario was airlifted to Swedish Medical Center in Denver the morning of the accident.
A funeral service is tentatively set for Wednesday in California. Plans for a memorial service at the Academy’s Cadet Chapel are still pending.
