Amazing grace... The song that's bittersweet to Jonika Winkler's ears, the little sister of Detective Jared Jensen. “He was mellow, easy going with life. That was Jared, a kid inside an adult."

Jared was the middle child of three and Jonika says they were pretty close. She remembers her brother realized his love for acting when he was just a kid, but gave it all up in his 20's to proudly wear a badge because he hoped to make a difference in the world. But, that hope came to a crashing end when he was shot and killed in the line of duty on February 22, 2006.

24 hours after Jared's death, Jonika gave birth to a little girl. "When she was born, I looked at her and knew instantly… I felt Jared being around me through the delivery and I knew I needed my daughter’s name to be Faith JS." JS are the initials of Jared Scott. “What he lived for, what he died for, he will always be my hero."

Jonika continues to keep Jared's memory alive and shows her kids his picture everyday. She wears a blue bracelet honoring her brother in blue. "I still have his work number in my phone. I can't delete it."

When Jonika hears “Amazing Grace”, she knows her angel is smiling, her big brother smiling down on her from heaven. "I wish I could hug him one last time. I love him, I miss him."
