(Lake George-AP) -- Saturday fire crews at the scene of the 138,000 acre Hayman fire continue to place sandbags around houses at risk of flooding.

Crews are also cutting down trees and placing them at angles to direct the water away from houses in and near the burn area about 40 miles southwest of Denver.

Crews are also mopping up the remaining hot spots in the Lost Creek Wildnerness area.

The next phase of rehabilitation will begin Sunday with crews raking, mulching and seeding the burned land to help prevent erosion during rain storms.
