Continuing to track rain/snow showers throughout southeast Colorado this morning as wet, gloomy and cool conditions continue. If you are hitting the roads in the higher elevation (Teller/Fremont/Custer/ Monument) make sure you allow a little extra time as some roads may be a little snow covered. Wet pavement remains everywhere else. We'll see rain/snow showers continue for most of our Monday, clearing out before midnight. Head on over to the "Weather" tab for a full look at the week ahead.
The victim of the murder that occurred at 3603 Airport Rd. at the Pinons Apartments has been identified as James Arthur Gruenemay, a 46-year-old white male.
The roommate of the victim, Tim Tischler, a 49 year old white male was arrested around 2 p.m. this afternoon in Castle Rock. He is being charged with 1st Degree Murder.
At this time the investigation has determined that the last time anyone saw the victim was in the afternoon of August 1st at the apartment. The apartment manager first noticed an odor from the apartment on August 3rd but did not take any action at that time.
When a police officer was on the premise on Aug. 6 investigating an unrelated crime, the manager then advised of the odor and requested it be investigated. At this time the victim was discovered.
The suspect had been arrested on August 2nd for an unrelated Warrant and was taken to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center then eventually taken to Douglas County for the Warrant.
After the suspect was released from the Douglas County Jail today, the Colorado Springs Police Department contacted the Castle Rock Police Department advising them that Tim Tischler was now wanted for 1st Degree Murder.
They located him at a bus station in Castle Rock and made the arrest without incident.
He will be booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on the charge of 1st Degree Murder.
