Tense moments for students, staff and fans on Friday night right before a football game in Fowler east of Pueblo.

Police activity forced evacuations into the school's gym before the game kicked off.

The Principal of Fowler High School, Russell Bates, says authorities told them to stay in the school while they searched the area.

They were reportedly on lock-down for close to 45 minutes.

The Otero County Sheriff's office said deputies were investigating a report of shots fired.

Authorities are not saying who they may have been on the look-out for or why.

Bates says Friday night's game will not be rescheduled.
