Why The Video Looks Shaky (Don Ward)
Updated: 06/18/2013 - We did a quick helicopter tour of the Black Forest burn area. Someone asked why the video looks shaky.
Under the plan, small planes will drop straw mulch containing
rye or barley seed to prevent rain from washing away soil on
hillsides burned by the 138 thousand acre blaze.
On flatter terrain, all-terrain vehicles will rake the soil and
plant seeds.
Land below the Cheesman Reservoir is especially important.
That's because the reservoir is a main source of water for the city
of Denver.
The plan does NOT include money to replant trees in the Pike
National Forest.
Nor can any of the money be spent on private property. But
officials say logs and sandbags will be placed near homes to divert
water away from them.
