Former Jefferson County Treasurer Mark Paschall has been indicted on charges of soliciting a kickback from a bonus he awarded to an employee.

Mark Paschall is accused of asking political appointee Sarah Redmond to give him $9,000 from a $25,000 bonus he approved for her.

The indictment says Redmond "wanted no part of his offer."

The indictment also accuses Paschall of two felonies, attempted theft and compensation for past behavior.

Paschall did not immediately return a message left at his home.

He was elected treasurer in 2001, but was defeated in the Republican primary in August
