A fallen Fort Carson soldier was remembered on post Friday. Sergeant David Goldberg died on November 26th while serving in Iraq. The 20-year-old from Springfield, Missouri was a reservist in the 52nd Engineer Battalion.

SGT Goldberg joined the Army in 2001. He left, then later signed up again as a reservist. "He just got the itch,” says his father, Chuck Goldberg. “He was like a fish out of water. He felt guilty he was at home while others were serving."

Family members also say SGT Goldberg loved poetry and body-building, and was always up for a debate. His brother says he showed no fear. "He's the kind of guy who'd say, ‘Give me Saddam Hussein! I'll shoot him between the eyes from 400 meters away.’ He's always used to say that," says Kevin Goldberg.

The Army has said he died from a non-combat related injury, but his death is still under investigation. His family still has questions about his death. They say they've heard he was shot in the chest... But for now it's just speculation. "I'm just going to make sure conclusion they reach holds water. Not a whitewash job," says his brother.

The family says their faith is getting them through this loss. And they say they're confident David is in a better place.
