Allegiant Air Schedule Changes

Allegiant Air says it will quit flying from Las Vegas to Denver early next year. But the Las Vegas-based airline is adding flights to Colorado Springs and Fort Collins-Loveland, as well as to Des Moines, Iowa.

A company official says the airline's niche is secondary markets.

He says the schedule changes have nothing to do with United Airlines' plans to begin flying a new low-fare airline called “Ted.”

Ted will begin flying in February. Allegiant will stop serving Denver on Jan. 6.

Service to Des Moines and Fort Collins-Loveland will expand Feb. 11. Additional flights to Colorado Springs will start a day later.
