Wildfire Help Questioned

(Denver-AP) -- U.S. Senator Wayne Allard is asking the Forest Service why offers of help from local fire departments were rebuffed at the 137,000 acre Hayman wildfire.

Allard says his office has received many calls asking why local departments didn't play a bigger role in what became the largest wildfire in Colorado history.

He sent a letter to Forest Service this week but the agency hasn't responded yet.

Another Congressman, Representative JD Hayworth of Arizona, is considering asking for hearings on why local departments were not used more during that state's largest wildfire. It burned 469,000 acres.
