A three-year-old girl is recovering from frostbite on her feet and hands after being found wandering around in below-zero temperatures in Routt County.
Sheriff's Sergeant Miles DeYoung says a passing motorist found the girl semiconscious in a snowbank on the side of a county road about 9:00a.m. Wednesday. She was airlifted to The Children's Hospital in Denver, but her condition is not being released.
DeYoung says the child wandered about a half-mile from her home. She spent about 45 minutes outside wearing only a long-sleeve shirt.
The child's mother was sick and resting and did not immediately notice the child was missing. Child welfare officials investigated, and both parents have been cleared.
