(Durkee, Oregon-AP) -- Hundreds attend a private service in Oregon to remember Alan Wyatt, the firefighter killed when a tree fell on him at the Missionary Ridge fire.

Friends and family say Wyatt was a gifted storyteller and rancher who taught U-S Forest Service personnel how to fell trees with a chain saw. He once was a professional rodeo cowboy, riding bulls and bucking broncos.

Fellow firefighter Mike Fortin says Wyatt had a lot of friends and ``stirred up a lot of dust wherever he went.''

Wyatt is survived by a wife, a son and a daughter. He's the ninth wildland firefighter to die in the United States this season.
