President Bush says "if we do not succeed in Iraq, we will leave behind a Middle East which will endanger America in the future." And Bush tells CBS's "60 Minutes" his decision to send more troops to Iraq is "going forward," even if Congress tries to stop him.
When asked if he owes the Iraqi people an apology for botching the management of the war, Bush replied "Not at all." Bush says "We liberated that country from a tyrant." And he adds the Iraqi people owe the American people "a huge debt of gratitude."
The president also says he saw part of the Internet-aired video of the execution of Saddam Hussein but says he got no particular satisfaction from seeing Saddam hang. As he puts it, "I'm not a revengeful person."
