Three former prison guards are sentenced on charges of civil rights violations.
37 year-old Mike Lavallee, 38 year-old Rod Schultz, and 43 year-old Robert Verbickas were guards at the U.S. Penitentiary in Florence.
They will each spend at least two and half years in federal prison.
The three have been accused of beating inmates and causing them pain.
During testimony, two witnesses said Lavallee once "hit an inmate so hard he thought he killed him."
The jury acquitted four other guards.
