Amendment 33 Troubles

A city planner in Pueblo says video lottery machines could be illegal in city dog tracks even if voters approve the proposal in the November election. Todd Ahlenius is a senior land use planner in Pueblo. He says
different types of gambling are outlined in city ordinances, and while racetrack gambling is permitted, there's nothing permitting other types of wagering, such as video gambling.

The issue revolves around Amendment 33. The ballot question would allow 500 video gambling machines at each of the Front Range's dog and horse tracks.

Proponents say the measure would generate $25 million for the state. Opponents, on the other hand, say it's nothing more than an expansion of gambling.
