The Board of Visitors at the Air Force Academy says it will meet four times a year instead of once to play a more important role in cleaning up the mess left in the wake of the sexual assault scandal.
New board chairman James Gilmore said Saturday, the board will become an active participant in monitoring the academy, rather than
playing a largely ceremonial role as it has in the past. The board is an oversight committee comprised of politicians and private citizens.
The BOV's two day conference ended Saturday, and Gilmore says it was a success for many sexual assault victim advocates and
cadets. Among the biggest changes to come out of the conference is a
plan to give confidentiality to women who report sexual assaults at
the school. That policy is still under development but, officials hope the change will make it easier for victims to come forward.
