Defending our great nation is getting more difficult by the day. As technology evolves, U.S. homeland security is forced to evolve as well.
That was the topic discussed during the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce breakfast at the pikes peak Marriott Thursday morning. The chamber got an in depth look at the efforts it takes to protect our country.
Brigadier General Kurt Story, the deputy commander for missile defense command and army forces strategic command had one goal at the briefing; to link Colorado Springs to the efforts being made overseas.
Missile defense command and army forces strategic command are both housed at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs.
Just last week it was North Korea that tested and launched the largest barrage of ballistic missiles in three years. "We have our eyes open," said Brigadier General Story. "We're well aware of what's going on,"he said.
Also, a powerful internet attack overwhelmed computers at U.S and South Korean government agencies for days. U.S authorities are eying North Korea as the origin of the cyber attack.
Cyber warfare and nuclear threats are keeping Brigadier General Story very busy. But he assured the chamber Thursday that our homeland is protected.
