BRECKENRIDGE, -- It's been a busy travel weekend in the High Country despite the recession.

Over 47,000 vehicles passed through the Eisenhower Tunnel on Friday, making it the tunnel's fifth busiest travel day ever. Volume was just above that of July 3, 2003.

Sunday is turning into another busy travel day. Eastbound traffic between Vail and Denver is causing delays and heavy traffic is expected all afternoon.

Breckenridge's holiday parade was packed with visitors and restaurants and retailers say they've been busy this weekend.

The outlet stores in Silverthorne stayed open until midnight on Friday to attract customers.

But Tim West, the supervisor at Main Street Outlet in Breckenridge, said visitors don't seem to be spending as much as last year.
