The funeral for a fallen Ft. Carson soldier killed last week in Afghanistan will be held Tuesday at the high school where he graduated last year in Peshtigo, Wisconsin.

Army gunner Pvt. Steven Drees was injured June 24 in an attack that involved small-arms fire and a rocket-propelled grenade launcher. He died four days later.

The 19-year-old had been in Afghanistan only a month before he was shot.

The funeral will be at Peshtigo High School, with visitation at 10 a.m. and the funeral at 5 p.m.

Henry Drees is the soldier's 72-year-old grandfather. He says Steven was "more than willing" to be deployed but also knew there would be dangers.

Steven Drees was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division out of Fort Carson.
