House Struck By Lightning In Peyton

An afternoon of thunderstorms brought heavy rain and lots of lightning to southern Colorado. One strike hit a home in Peyton Thursday evening around 6:00 p.m. and started a fire.
It happened on 7416 Mallard Drive. Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control. The amount of damage is unknown at this time.
A neighbor reportedly saw the bolt of lightning strike the home, and called 911. He ran over with his garden hose to fight the fire until crews could get on scene. No one was home when the lightning struck the home.
