The Colorado Springs Police Department says it can't fight graffiti alone.
But, a non-profit organization is helping out. The organization is getting young people to give back to the community and the illegal artwork is being removed from Colorado Springs.
A handful of teens spent Thursday afternoon putting a fresh coat of paint on a tunnel near Union Boulevard and Circle Drive.
Some of them have been in trouble with the law. Others just want to help out.
"The whole purpose of the program is to help youth become contributing members of our community," said Adah MacIndoe, project manager for Workout Ltd.
Kids between the ages of 14 and 21 are involved. About 225 are enrolled in Workout Limited. And only 17 percent of those who are juvenile offenders, re-offend after they've been in the program.
The project is being done in partnership with the Colorado Springs Police Department, which provided the materials and identified the site.
