A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Several inches of accumulation will be possible in areas where these bands develop. For more information click the ‘Weather’ tab...
Skiers and snowboraders take note:
Several of the state's ski resorts are in a mad dash to open first for this year's ski season.
Smaller resorts like Loveland, Keystone, and Copper Mountain are usually the first to open their slopes.
So far, Arapahoe Basin says they should beat out Loveland which is slated to open October 16th.
Colorado Ski Country U.S.A. says there's a good reason for the rush.
The resort that opens first gets national exposure.
And that kind of publicity is very important to smaller resorts.
