A night of mischief carrying a price tag of nearly $20,000 in damages, has four Pueblo West kids in hot water.

The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office says, they may not have caught the kids if it wasn't for an ordinary citizen being in the right place at the right time.

Just before midnight Wednesday David Kruest was sitting on his porch when he saw one of four boys begin to spray paint the wall of his apartment building. He called out and the boys scattered. Kruest was able to catch one of the boys, a 12-year-old, and took him home.

The sheriff's office says, the run-in with the good samaritan didn't deter the other three boys though. They are suspected of continuing to spray paint houses, cars, schools, even a pool. The amount of damage done during a six hour period, is an estimated $20,000.

After talking to the 12-year-old, deputies say it was a domino effect which led to the arrest of three other teens. All three are currently in the Pueblo Youth Center and face multiple felony charges. Because the 12-year-old was caught early in the night, he's only facing a misdemeanor charge.

Meanwhile, in the city of Pueblo, two others were arrested, charged and sentenced Thursday for graffiti related incidents. Amanda Hinger, 20, was given 15 days in jail and a $3,000 dollar fine. Her fine was suspended pending the completion of 75 hours of community service, paying $500 dollars in restitution, and donating $200 to the City's Graffiti Removal Program. The 17-year-old male defendant was sentenced to 250 hours of community service and a $3,000 dollar fine. Like Hinger's fine, the boys was suspended pending these conditions: He must get a job, complete his GED, pay $500 dollars in restitution, donate $200 to the City's Graffiti Removal Project and apologize to the victim.
