Canon City police say the human remains found in Canon City earlier this month have been identified as a missing woman.

Police say the remains recovered Tuesday, June 16 in the Chandler area southeast of Canon City are that of Dalina Denelle “Nell” Turman, who has been missing since April.

Police say there is a person of interest in the case that has not yet been arrested. He was the last person to be seen with Turman. He led them to the body.

"They went out and they started doing searches and interviews and they contacted several people to do interviews. Once that happened the pressure of the investigation came down on one individual and he took us to where the body was located," said Canon City Police Chief Dan Shull.

The exact details surrounding the person of interest's involvement in the case is not yet being released.

The cause of death has not been released.
