Rocky Mountain National Park now includes almost 64 additional
acres, making it more than 265,800 acres in size.
The National Park Service purchased the additional land from the
Estes Valley Land Trust. The price was not disclosed.

The new acreage is located on the north side of the U-S Highway
34 bypass in the Fall River corridor. The area is situated on a
steep, south-facing slope and contains prime habitat for bighorn
sheep.

The Land Trust will use proceeds from the sale for other land
conservation projects in the Estes Valley.

The E.V.L.T. helps preserve and protect open spaces and wildlife
habitat in the Estes Valley and surrounding area.
