Easy Ways To Donate

The holiday season, for many, is about giving, caring and sharing.

And these days, showing your holiday spirit couldn't be easier.

Most people don't even have to leave their homes to give to a worthy cause.

People are opening up their hearts and wallets right from their living rooms.

Thanks to technology, donating food, clothes, toys and much more, is only a few clicks away. And in some cases, you don't even need your credit card.

One of the old fashioned ways of helping those in need, is donating to Salvation Army bell ringers.

Bell ringer Lowell Smalley says, "It makes me feel very good to do this."

Another way to reach out would be to physically visit a Salvation Army or other non-profit organization, and drop off items.

Pueblo County's Salvation Army Captain Sam Rodriguez says, "They donate money, they donate food, toys, clothes, jackets."

The miracle of giving happens everyday. And everyday, warm-hearted people take the time to physically bring goods, and hope, to those less fortunate.

"It's that giving spirit," says Rodriguez.

But doing things via the Internet, including making donations, seems to be taking over.

It works especially well for those busy-bees who don't have the time to drop off donations, so they're getting their chores done online.

A website called www.goodsearch.com has many people talking, and that's because donating there doesn't involve spending any of your money.

All you have to do is search for your favorite charity, and just logging on, automatically donates a dollar.

But, Captain Rodriguez says, there's something special about actually showing your good will, by bringing things to the needy.

Rodriguez says. "When they come in they actually see what we do."
