There will be a two-day civil rights conference for elected officials, policy-makers, business leaders, the legal community and advocacy groups next week. The Civil Rights Education Forum is sponsoring the event October 9th and 10th at the Colorado Convention Center.

The conference will deal with protecting civil rights when there's heightened concern for national security. It's called ``The Exercise and Enforcement of Civil Rights Post 9-11.'' Federal, state and local agencies, bar associations and public interest advocates will be represented at the conference.

Colorado Attorney General Ken Salazar will speak, as will U-S Attorney John W. Suthers and Polly Baca. Baca is executive director of the Latin American Research and Service Agency.
