Air Force Academy cadets spent the weekend cleaning up El Paso County.

About 2,500 young men and women volunteered throughout the
community, picking up trash, painting houses and pulling weeds. One
group went to Security to clean two assisted-living houses.

Another group spent Saturday at Grant Elementary School in Colorado Springs, and others hit Santa Fe Trail, doing a miles-long cleanup job.

Cadets worked at a total of 85 locations. Three shifts of cadets did odd
jobs at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, near North Academy Boulevard and Flintridge Drive. Dozens more spruced up the Briargate interchange on I- 25, pulling weeds and collecting garbage.
