A Colorado Springs teenager is suing the man convicted of posing as a therapist molesting him. The boy is also suing Children's Ark of Green Mountain Falls, which is a residential youth treatment center where the man worked and the boy was a patient.
Geoff Rantz was convicted more than a year ago on six counts of
sexual assault against a child. He was sentenced to a minimum of 40
years in prison.
The boy is seeking unspecified damages from Rantz and Children's Ark. The suit claims the treatment center did not perform an adequate background check before employing Rantz. The suit claims Rantz lied about his education, wasn't licensed in Colorado and was on a child abuse registry in Iowa.
The boy was 13 years old in 1997 when the assaults began.
